DEMOCRACY, EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES AND A FAIR DIGITAL SOCIETY

It ́s time for 13th Freja Forum to take place.
Date: 8th -10th November 2019
Location: Skopje, Republic of North Macedonia

Freja Forum 2019 in Skopje, North Macedonia will discuss equal opportunities, democracy and a fair digital future during three days. Freja Forum will offer a large number of seminars, workshops and informal meetings.

The discussions from Freja Forum 2018 will continue concerning the challenges democracy and equal opportunities are facing in a future digital world. Robotization and artificial intelligence are rapidly developing which are effecting democracy and human behavior in different ways known as well as unknown ways. A fair digital future is necessary and use of digital technology must always be a part of the democratic society and not beyond democratic control.

The Forum will discuss the current situation with the focus of a fair digitalization. Non-profit organizations and other actors must be better prepared and increase the knowledge of how a fair digital future can be created. Freja Forum has the aim of developing efficient processes in the non-profit sector to increase the competence and be strong and constructive players in the digital society.

The discussions will focus on the current situation and expected development in the near future concerning digitalization and how democracy, equal opportunities and processes in politics and civil society will be effected. The Forum will also explore practical methods and experience of successful examples where the digitalization is a resource for the civil society.

Seminar A

Bridging the gap between digitalisation and democracy in Europe

Digital technology has fantastic potential to support citizens and democracies, but conscious decisions has to be taken about that future. The online world is a “private” world, where public interests and individual rights are not clearly developed.
This seminar will discuss factors for a European approach to the digital transition, in an interactive discussion between politicians, experts and civil society.

Moderator: Ms Liselott Vahermägi Representative of Stockholm Regional Assembly, Sweden and Equal opportunity expert, Sweden

Seminar B

Equal Opportunities – pictures of women and men in the digital world

Digitalization can be defined as the development and use of digital technologies and artificial intelligence to change a business model and provide new revenue and value- producing opportunities. It is the process of moving to a digital world, including e- governments, e-health, e-services, etc. Reports has shown that equal opportunities is not a developed perspective in the digital world. Pictures of women and men are traditional and includes often stereo types. The panel will discuss how the digitalization can be more gender balanced.

The seminar will have an introduction from an expert on global digitalization.

Seminar C

Digital innovation, future of environment and human health

AI is used in developing methods and processes in environment and sustainable society. What are the positive and negative impact of AI on environment? What are the latest development in environment and human health related to AI?

Freja Academy is a part of Freja Forum with the objective to promote the civil society organizations to strengthen their role and work to be an important actor in the civil society, based on values of democracy and equal opportunities.

The participants can choose between three parallel training sessions. After participating in one of session A-C, the participant will receive a certificate.
